February 2026

On Tuesday, February 3rd we gathered at the State House for a press conference to go over our legislative priorities for this second session of the 132nd Maine State Legislature. We were joined by bill sponsors, coalition partners, tribal and state leaders, and members of the newly formed Wabanaki Youth Policy Initiative. There was a wonderful turnout from press outlets and we wanted to take the opportunity to share some of the excellent coverage.

We continue to stand for sovereignty, education, land access and stewardship, and the rights of Wabanaki Nations in our homelands now called Maine to be equal to every other tribal nation in the country. Please read on for all the details from the press conference and ways to support our work in this exciting legislative and electoral year.

Woliwoni!
